A tiny monochromatic snapshot of my father and me becomes symbolic of the multi-colored experience of family origins. When viewed through the lens of time, the images take on special significance. “A photo from the family archives, a storehouse of images that speak of my own beginnings, inspired this work. acrylic and collage on wood panel, 10″ x 20″. Here the Honeysuckle swirlingly shows itself off as a herald of warmth to come!” Laura Huntįleeting Moment. Smell the joy of the fresh new sweet and spicy Spring flowers. Hear the birds, as they return and sing for their mates, listen as the frogs emerge and exuberantly proclaim their excitement for the new year. “The New Beginning of Springtime… Imagine the forest awakening after its long winter slumber, feel a new round of life stirring, sap rising, leaves budding and unfurling. Honeysuckle/Hazel Dance, oil on canvas, 14″ x 18″. The light coming from the moon illuminates both which gives the feeling of a higher power for ‘New Beginnings'”. Flowers are a renewal of life….even in darkness. This image of a woman facing up to the sky gives the feeling of hope. When creating my digital photographs, I always start with a photograph of a sculpture that I made and the emotions that it stirs inside me.

Touched by the Moon, digital photograph, size varies. It opens up a whole new direction to express my love of the Northern New Mexico landscape that inspires my art.” Bonnie Kamhi This new medium challenges me and I love learning new ways to create art. I normally paint in acrylics in my Florida home studio, but found using oils in New Mexico more forgiving. “This painting fits the New Beginnings theme as this was one of the first pieces of art I painted in oil and cold wax while in Santa Fe the summer of 2019. This photo is a pattern of milkweed leaves and buds, about to open to the possibilities of what will come.” Mary Mirabalĭesert Wild Flowers, oil and wax on panel, 12″ x 12″. I worked from my thoughts and memories in broad, loose strokes to express feelings of elation and joy which can mean many things to many viewers.” Dick and Rosanne They were celebrating a new project in the story. I recalled the gestures and poses of the characters silhouetted against the white water of the rushing fountain. “One of my favorite movies is ‘The Producers’, an irreverent comedy made in 1967, starring Gene Wilder and Zero Mostel. How much we are blessed to see them all free.” Leanne Fink Especially the bright sunlight on the greens and small flowers under the trees caught my eyes with so distinct colors. I’m enjoying the ‘SMELL’ of fresh morning air as a new beginning of the day. “Waking up early and walking up this hill to the Alamo Square was always one of my favorite routines every morning. Morning Walk at the Grove St., oil on canvas, 11″ x 14″. I like that! And this new beginning encouraged another new beginning as I decided to keep it! This painting now hangs in my studio for inspiration.” Mason Mansung Kang Adding the birds, something definable, was out of character for me, but I went along with the feeling, creating something different and new. Prior to this I painted spaces and places with minimal detail. As they finish they get whisked off for sale to my gallery representation. Sea, Mist & Birds, acrylic on panel, 44″ x 36″.
